Program Director for Student Life
Summary
The Student Life Program Director will work with and be accountable to
the Pastor of Student Life in supporting the ministry of Student Life
with 175+ Middle School, High School, and College aged students, their families, and 40+ volunteers. He or she will be responsible for
ministry programming, administration, and communications and includes
recruiting & directing individuals and teams of volunteers, working
extensively with various forms of computer applications and A/V
technology, and coordinating ministry logistics with office personnel.
Teaching, discipling, caring, and outreach opportunities also accompany
this position as appropriate. And, it may be combined with a ministry specific Residency (see below).
Hours & Pay
This person will be an employee of the church working 20 hours each
week at $8-$10/hour commensurate with education and experience.
Hours may increase to 40 plus reduced rate housing may be available by joining our Student Life Residency Program (see below).
Scheduled Expectations
The PD shall establish & maintain regular office hours. Attend & direct midweek & weekend programs as needed. Attend & direct monthly Student Life volunteer meetings as needed.
Responsibilities
Programming:
Work with the Pastor of Student Life for long range calendar planning; directing (establishing schedules, coordinating volunteers, gathering/preparing media, etc.), weekly large group gatherings, periodic major events, concerts, activities, and other ministry initiatives.
Administration: Work extensively with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and sometimes Powerpoint), maintain student life website, database, media libraries, and physical supply storage. Training will be provided as needed.
Communications:
Proactively gather & disperse all necessary information for all communications to develop:
Print Communications: Create periodic announcement cards, newsletters, periodic posters & flyers, event registration forms & lists, and maintain bulletin boards, etc.
Digital Communications: Develop weekly announcement graphics, prepare worship lyrics projection, maintain website announcements, and produce group email correspondence, etc.
Verbal Communications: Produce periodic group phone messages, develop verbal announcements as needed for midweek programs and weekend services, make phone correspondences for ministry program recruiting and coordination.
Personal Requirements
This individual must be a committed follower of Christ. He/she must be actively growing in his/her current walk and relationship with Christ and understanding of the Word. This individual should be able to agree with the Core Affirmations of the Evangelical Covenant Church, the vision for Student Life, and the Student Life Staff Guidelines. He/she should also have a passion for student ministry; should possess good interpersonal & communication skills; should be proficient at long range planning as well as detail management; should be socially amiable and comfortable with recruitment; should be tech and computer savvy (Mac OS); and should be proficient with (or able to learn) various applications such as Microsoft Office, Photoshop, Pages, video editing, Facebook, and other web based communication tools.
Ministry Resident for Student Life
Summary
As a teaching church, the Student Life at the Covenant is offering the opportunity for ministry residency, a commitment of 2-3 years at 20 hours per week, in the following roles.
Middle School (Female):
Ministry to middle school girls (caring, discipling, empowering), working alongside of and supporting volunteer small group leaders, teaching, creative programming, etc.
High School (Male):
Ministry to guys (caring, discipling, empowering), working alongside
of and supporting volunteer small group leaders, teaching, creative
programming, etc.
High School (Female): Ministry to girls (caring, discipling, empowering), working alongside of and supporting volunteer small group leaders, teaching, creative programming, etc.
College (Male or Female): Ministry to college students (caring, discipling, empowering), creative programming for activities, small groups, and bible studies, etc.
Hours & Pay
The Covenant Church provides $2000 to cover the ministry expenses of Residents.
The Covenant Church also provides an apartment at a reduced rate.
Residents raise financial support from among their network of family, friends, and home church. All funds raised are contributed to the Residency fund out of which the Undergraduate Resident will be paid $8/hour for up to 20 hours per week. The Graduated (B.A.) Resident's pay will be negotiated during the interviewing. Hours may increase to 40 by combining a residency with the Program Director position.
